Isabella Rossi, Ph.D.

Professor of Italian Literature and Language

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Italian Literature from the University of Bologna, MA in Italian Studies from Columbia University, BA in Comparative Literature from the University of Florence.

Research Interests: Contemporary Italian Literature, Italian Cinema, Gender Studies, Italian Poetry of the 20th Century. Professor Rossi's current research focuses on the representation of women in post-war Italian cinema.

Courses Taught: Italian Grammar and Composition, Survey of Italian Literature, Advanced Italian Conversation, Italian Cinema: History and Analysis.

Marco Bianchi, M.A.

Instructor of Italian Language and Culture

Qualifications: MA in Italian Language and Culture from the University of Siena, Certificate in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language from the Società Dante Alighieri, Rome.

Research Interests: Italian Language Pedagogy, Second Language Acquisition, Italian Pop Culture, Regional Variations in Italian Dialects. Marco is interested in innovative teaching methods to enhance language learning.

Courses Taught: Beginning Italian I & II, Intermediate Italian I & II, Italian for Travelers, Italian Cuisine and Culture.

Sofia Lombardi, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Italian History and Art History

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Italian History from the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, MA in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, BA in History from the University of Rome.

Research Interests: Renaissance Art, Medieval History, Italian Architecture, the History of Florence. Her current work focuses on the influence of the Medici family on Florentine art and politics.

Courses Taught: Italian Art and Architecture, Renaissance History, The History of Florence, Introduction to Italian Culture.

Giovanni Esposito, M.Phil.

Lecturer in Italian Linguistics

Qualifications: M.Phil. in Linguistics from the University of Oxford, BA in Italian Linguistics from the University of Naples Federico II.

Research Interests: Italian Dialectology, Historical Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Language Variation and Change. Giovanni specializes in the study of Neapolitan dialect and its evolution.

Courses Taught: Italian Phonetics and Phonology, Introduction to Italian Linguistics, Italian Dialects, Advanced Grammar and Syntax.

Alessandra Martini, M.Ed.

Online Instructor of Italian Language

Qualifications: M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Harvard University, BA in Italian Literature from the University of Milan.

Research Interests: Online Language Learning, Educational Technology, Innovative Teaching Methodologies, Gamification in Education. Alessandra is passionate about using technology to make language learning more engaging.

Courses Taught: Online Beginning Italian, Online Intermediate Italian, Italian for Business, Conversational Italian Online.

Lorenzo Ferrari, Ph.D.

Professor of Italian Cinema Studies

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Film Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, MA in Italian Studies from the University of Toronto, BA in Communications from the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

Research Interests: Italian Neorealism, Italian Horror Cinema, Film Theory, Gender and Sexuality in Film. Lorenzo's latest publication explores the themes of social realism in post-war Italian cinema.

Courses Taught: History of Italian Cinema, Italian Neorealism, Italian Horror Cinema, Film Theory.
